On Friday morning, I decided the kids (and I) needed a field trip.
It had been kind of a tough week. So, I got online, googled apple farms and off we went.
I have to admit that I did bypass a few of the local orchards in favor of one that was in the NC mountains.
We have mountain views from our neighborhood and I knew it would only be about a 40 minute drive (and I didn't even use my GPS).
I'm so glad we went. The scenery was beautiful and it was the perfect day to go pickin'. (It could have been a tad cooler, though.)
Take a look at what we found once we got there.
I would have loved to take some of this home.
We did take some of this home - yummy.
The kids loved this stuff.
Now, onto the orchard.
Just beautiful.
Look at all of that beautiful color that's just beginning.
It was eventually time to take our apples and head back home.
Such a fun day - thanks for coming along.

Spontaneous field trips are the best! The kids look so happy! I can't wait to go pickin' on Monday. I think we're headed up to Concord, MA as well. I want to visit Louisa May Alcott's home and take in the scenery. Should be a glorious day!!
How fun!! I've actually never been to an orchard before. My grandparent's have apple trees on their land that we picked from but that is it. Those trees that were turning were beautiful!
Love apple orchards. Looks like such a fun day. We have had this cold snap. It was 29 degrees yesterday and we have not even picked out pumpkins or anything yet!
Ohhhh it looks so BEAUTIFUL!! Great pictures! I am going to have to see if we have anything like that around here. I would LOVE to go apple picking. How fun!
We have been in the 50's with a cold wind blowing so it feels even colder! It has been so much colder here than normal but I LOVE it! It has definitely felt like Fall this year!!♥
What fun pictures!

I miss apple picking. We used to go every year when we lived in Ohio. So did you make apple crisp?
