I Heart Faces - At The Beach

Ok. I've been a huge fan of this blog since they first started and since this week was about...At the Beach, I decided to give it a shot.

We were at Topsail Island, NC a few weeks ago when I caught this little girl playing in the sand.

So fun to be a kid.

NC Vacation Part 2

Continuing our recap of last week's vacation to our wonderful home state of North Carolina.....

Hubby's family lives down near Wilmington so on Wednesday we packed up the cars (yes I meant two - long story) and headed a little further south.

In all of my 38 (uhmm) years, I had never visited the downtown/waterfront area of the beautiful city of Wilmington. Well, I saw this as the perfect opportunity to gather up my camera, more than willing family members and my trusty GPS and to the waterfront we went.

First things first, we had to have lunch at Flaming Amy's Burrito Barn - the best ever. You must give it a try if you're ever in the area. My fav is their Greek burrito - yum-my.

Now that my tummy's full - let's continue on.

I believe this was The Deliverence - just came in for their weekend liberty.

My crew checking out the beautiful view.

The USS North Carolina was docked across the way.

Random scenery.....

As beautiful as it was, it was also really HOT, so we made the decision to head somewhere we could cool off - the beach.

My favorite place to spend any vacation is at the beach - the edge of this beautiful country that we are so blessed to call home.

Have a wonderful weekend.

We're Back

Hey, Everyone.
We're back from our little mid-summer break and feeling refreshed. We've actually been back since Saturday night but I'm so refreshed and relaxed that I really didn't feel like downloading the two cameras.
(I'm now trying hard to get back into my work mode.)
Our vacation week was packed with lots of family time. Since we live away from everybody, we used this week to go up to NC and spend some quality time with those we don't get to see as often as we'd like.
Here are some pics from the first part of our week.

There was ice cream......

There were games......

Even the big kids had to get involved in the games.....boys will be boys.

There were fireworks......

and there was swimming at Aunt Patti's......

As you can see, the first half of our week was filled with lots of fun. The second half had lots of good stuff too, so I'll post that in a couple of days.

Hope your summer is filled with fun as well.

Love me some Chris Daughtry

Check out this video of one of my favorite musicians doing a remake of Lady Gaga's Pokerface.

Anything he does sounds great and I'm not just sayin' that cause he's a distant relative.

Seriously, Chris doesn't realize this but he's related to my hubs. I know.

Ok, here it goes.....Rob's grandmother was a Daughtry from Roanoke Rapids, NC (which is where Chris is from BTW) and she is kin (as we say in the south) to his.....somebody. I'm thinking it's grandfather but could be great-grandfather.

Maybe I should track this family tree down before I invite him over for dinner.

Anyhoo, listen to his version of the song (which I like better than her screaming) and tell me what you think.

Sorry you only have this link to click on - I so don't know how to link the video with the picture thing onto my blog (I'm really an idiot when it comes to that kind of stuff).

If you'd like to leave me a comment explaining that process, I'd be forever grateful.

Another Beautiful Home

Every now and then, I'll show you some of the homes that are photographed for our local magazine Talk Greenville.
I'm a huge fan of Southern Living, so when I saw this idea home in the files, I had to share.

Just take a look at Tuscany Falls.

I'd love to see it in person. Maybe I'll have to search it out.

Hope you're having a great Wednesday - I gotta go wash more clothes...

we leave on vacation on Friday!
