Cold & Rainy Beginning

It's baseball season! One of my favorites of the sports seasons because the arrival of baseball means that spring & summer aren't far behind. We had opening day with our Optimist league this past weekend & the Royals won their first game 10-5. (Yes, I have to admit that my little leaguer did help with that score by getting a double along with making several outs at second base. - way to go Bray!)
The reason I'm not posting any pictures of this exciting game is because it was too cold to pull my hands out from under the blanket I was using to try to stay warm. Who knew we'd go from 80 degrees on Friday to 43 degrees on Saturday. I really am tired of winter! Today is not much better - it's a cold & rainy 50 degrees. We had another game scheduled for this evening but much to our dismay it was rained out. We'll get a chance to keep up our winning streak on Wed. night so stay tuned for those great action shots.
That's all for now - until later........."Play Ball".

Easter Party Time

I just love watching children at Easter time. Spring is here and their laughter is in the air. The smell of cupcakes and chocolate bunnies and those little plastic eggs filled with all kinds of goodies. Enjoy these pics and let them take you back to a time when life was simpler.

Ok - I just had to throw this picture in.
(It's a little girl in Gracie's class - too funny.)

Here is my baby enjoying being a kid at Easter.....

Have a Blessed Easter!!

Science Project

Don't cha just hate it when those "project" sheets come home from school? Well, I do. It's more work for the parents than the kids. We have to figure out what would be best to make, how to make it and find all of the materials to do it. Trust me, I've been spending a lot of time in Michael's lately.

Needless to say that my 4th grader recently received one of those "project" sheets and out of all the choices...he wanted to make an erupting volcano. Luckily there are now kits that are made for such projects so that's exactly what he did.

Here are the photos from our "Erupting Volcano Project" (ok - I have to admit it was more of an overflow volcano than an erupting one but it got the job done.)

Uh oh! His friend Brent dropped the volcano.

Well, at least it happened after his presentation & eruption. He got a 100 by the way. Yea - good job Bray (and Daddy)!

Party Time

Hi All -
I'm a first timer & hope I get it right.
My name is Duchess, I'm 36 and from NC. I've been married to my high school sweetheart for almost 16 years and we have two wonderful blessings, Brayden a 10 yr. old 4th grader and Gracie a 7 yr. old 1st grader.
I love taking pictures (not professionally - just for fun), reading (when I can), watching movies and of course anything that has to do with my family.
I hope to make lots of blogger friends so if you visit leave me a message.

Presidential Race

I've really been paying attention to the political scene lately (as I hope you have also) and I must say that I was a little saddened yesterday when Mike Huckabee had to withdraw from the race. The primaries haven't even made it to NC yet! He would have had our votes for sure. Now we must focus on the only nominee that remains in the race that has a strong moral foundation and family values. Let's all consider how important this election is and rally behind John McCain to help prevent our country from heading down the socialist path to government control.

If you're not sure who to vote for yet please give it lots of consideration and do your own research - don't just listen to the blurbs that the media wants you to hear. Don't let the liberal media choose the next President. This is still America and we can still make a difference.

Ok - I'm off my soap box,
till later,
duchess
