We're making a big change.

Sorry the blog posts have been a little slow in coming this holiday season, but there is a good reason.

I've been really busy.

Doing what, you ask?

We have made the decision to start homeschooling our children and I've been trying to get everything ready. My goal is to begin after the holidays and finish out this school year at home.

This isn't something that has come out of the blue. It's actually been on my heart for a couple of years now, however I've been trying to do more of what I want to do than what God wants me to do. (Has anyone else ever tried that? It never works.) He will always win.

So, here we are trying to dive into this new experience and I'm trying to learn as much as I can to make the transition easier for the children. They are super excited by the way.

I would like to ask a favor - if any of you wonderful ladies out there homeschool your children and have some helpful hints or wonderful advice for us, please feel free to offer it up. I will gladly take any I can get - this whole process is a little intimidating but with God on our side, how can we fail?

Hope everyone is having a great time preparing for this Christmas season and thanks in advance for your support.

No help to give you with homeschooling but with your preparation, I know you will do just fine. You will have to keep us in the loop of how the homeschooling goes. It will be a big challenge that I am sure will be filled with many, many rewards to you and your children. ♥

Wow, Duchess! Such a change!! I have looked into homeschooling for the past three years now. I'm just not as brave as you to actually make the step...or is it leap? You will do a wonderful job...the Lord is leading you and He will supply the strength you need!

I'm on my second year of homeschooling my kids. I have a 6th/7th grader, a 3rd/4th grader, and a prek that is learning to read this year.

I do not claim to know it all just know that what works for others may not work for your kids/family.

There are times I love it and times I ABHOR it. I'll send you lots of thoughts & prayers, you're gonna need'em hahaha ;)

I bet 1/2 of the leap is having your kiddos on board with the homeschooling and since they're looking forward to it...you will be able to deal with it! You are a strong woman!

I am not there yet, so I can't help you much with the organization and major overhaul, but I wish you the best of luck! Keep us posted on how things go!

The good Lord didn't give me the patience or the desire to homeschool, and I admire you for it. I couldn't imagine all that will be involved. I will add your family and your homeschooling to my prayer list and I know that will help!

I pray that you will find what works best with the new homeschooling. I look up to Mom's who are doing this, I just am not patient enough. KUDOS to you!!!

I think you'll do great. I know you've talked about it since I met you. I'm glad the kids are looking forward to it. Homeschooling is very rewarding to the kids as well as the parents. You'll do fine. God be with you.

I don't have any experience with Homeschooling, but do wish you the best of success. I have heard nothing but wonderful things about HS. I don't know what curriculum you are using, but aBeka is wonderful! My children attend a Christian school...daughter is now in 10th grade there. And we have been very pleased with the curriculum, and I know that the HS moms in our area use it as well. When you answer God's call, it's got to be a positive thing for you and the children! :) ~hugs, Rhonda

WOW - I wish you the best in your new venture. I know I'd kill my kids! LOL! I'm sure you'll be great, though.

ps - I left something for you on my blog.

Well, I was homeschooled from Kindergarten thru 8th grade and my mom homeschools my sisters (one to graduation and one is currently in the 8th grade). While I am not a fan of homeschooling, I respect your decision to do what you feel is right for your family. That's what matters - that you're doing what you feel is right. Good luck!
