Stoneybrook Steeplechase

The springtime in NC usually means a few things: the dogwoods & azaleas are in bloom, pollen is everywhere, and it's time for the running of the Stoneybrook Steeplechase. Well, this year we decided to go & watch the horses run. Whenever you have an outside spring event everyone prays for weeks for nice weather.......didn't happen this year. I believe the TV weather people said that our area received 3-4 in. of rain on Saturday & I can tell you it felt like 10 in.
Anyway - it was a fun day & one the kids won't soon forget. Sorry the pics aren't better but it's kind of hard when you're trying to keep your camera dry under the umbrella.

The horses run rain or shine.

One of the race officials - isn't the horse pretty?

This is how the girls chose to play - nice & dry.

This is how the boys chose to play - wet & dirty.

Sometimes you just have to let it go.

Here are some of the kids that we could round up for a picture.
(Notice mine is the dirty wet one in the gray shirt.)

Nonetheless, a great time was had by all (especially the boys who got to play in the mud).

Well, even though the weather did not cooperate, ya'll look like you had fun anyway!
