Confirmation

This afternoon B and I were sitting in the car while G was in gymnastics. He was working on homework at the time. I took out his folder to sign and see a paper in there from the room mom.

Can anyone guess what this paper was concerning?

It's that time of year. It involves food, plates, cups & candy.

Come on, you know what it is.

That's right. It's time for our annual........

Winter Party!!!!!

Huh?

"Winter Party??" I say. (B looks at me like I'm losing my mind.)

"A Winter Party????"

I cannot even describe the level of disgust I felt at that moment.

Our children are being taught that they can't celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ in schools.

I tried to explain my anger to B and told him - if we're not celebrating His birth, there is no need to have a party.

I tried to calm down but must admit that I'm still just as disgusted as I was earlier tonight.

To me, this is just a confirmation that we've made the right decision about homeschooling.

I just can't continue to allow this "political correctness" to mold my children's minds any longer.

In our home, at this time of year, we proudly celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, our Savior and that's what our children will celebrate at their parties.

But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:10-11

Isn't it sad they are calling it a Winter Party :( It is truly all about the birth of Christ so because it might "offend" someone you can't use the word! TOO BAD if you are offended! I think at our small school Lexi attends it is still called a Christmas party....

They tried that at our school this year. I am the grademother for my son's class, so when I sent out the letter I made it short and simple and at the end I put most of Luke 2. And I made sure to use the word CHRISTmas several times:) I also do a book exchange every year for the kids and we always get a Bible story book!

Good for you! I didn't have to face this with my girls, I would of been just like you!

Yep, that's what we're supposed to be having here...a winter party. Neat, huh? It's so ridiculous!!

Preach it, girl! We are still able to call it a "Holiday" party at our school. This used to irk me until I became very good friends with a Jewish family from our school. Since then I have actually found myself very much aligned with most of my new Jewish friends and their morals. Now Holiday doesn't bother me but Winter? Come on!

It's still a Christmas party at our son's school. Things are all changing now though. It's sad, isn't it?
Smile through the upset though hun~ Les

Remember when they used to say "Easter" Break now they say Spring Break. It used to be "Christmas" Vacation now it is winter break...How sad... AND many employees in stores aren't allowed to say Merry Christmas but can only say "Happy Holidays" ~ I would be the first to get fired.
God Bless You - I do believe in confirmations~♥

Wow. How sad! The Robin's Nest post reminded me about how when someone tells me "Happy Holidays" I always respond with "Merry Christmas!". :)

Amen Sister!!

Pretty sure all my CHRISTmas cards said Merry Christmas. Because in our house, that is what we celebrate.

I refuse to lose my true self on that one!!

Good for YOU!!!

At least your schools still get parties. Ours won't even have a party for fear that they might offend someone. Poor kids, no matter what you celebrate there's not even a party at all. To you and yours, Merry Christmas, for Jesus is the reason for the season!
