Have you checked out IKEA lately?

I must admit that I've never really been an IKEA fan. The furniture was just a little too modern and contemporary for me. However, now I must ammend that opinion and say that I'm in love with this particular line from IKEA called EKTORP.

I love it. It's cozy and comfy and very liveable without being cold & sterile.

What caught my eye was this chair:

I heart this chair!
Black & white checks are my favorite and up until now I've never been able to work them into my space.
I may have to with this chair.
The photos online don't do it justice but there is a print ad in the current issue of
Better Homes & Gardens that is just wonderful.
(I'd show you a picture of it but my scanner hasn't been hooked up yet - sorry.)
I have just one concern....I've never seen any upholstered IKEA furniture in person and I'm afraid it might feel.....cheap.
Does anyone have any personal experiences with this company to give me for reference?
I really want to like it.
Just in case anyone with any IKEA connections wants me to do a product test for this furniture line in a real home ....e-mail me, we'll talk.

That chair is AWESOME! A friend and I are headed to IKEA after the kids are back in school. I think it's a fun place to kick around in but I must admit I don't usually find too much to buy! We'll see what happens with this trip!

I love the chair but I don't know anything about the quality. Sorry!

I've been to IKEA several times, but I don't recall the quality of the fabric lines. I suppose you could always ship it back if it was not up to your standards.

Love the chair! I'm not familar with IKEA products, but it is really cute! Read the previous post to an telemarketers. We signed up for the DO NOT CALL registry and they still call. My husband bought a van for his business a couple of months ago, and I guess they saw activity on his credit, from that ...we had 14 calls the next day from credit companies offering all sorts of deals. They are getting mean too. Maybe they've resorted to intimidation tactics! LOL!

Keep us updated on your chair. Would love to see where you put it, if you decide to get it. Have you looked on Overstock for checked chairs? I have ordered lots of furniture pieces off of there and have never been disappointed!

I looooove me some Ikea! I go everytime I'm in Orlando. It's surprising how much I own that comes from that store. Anyhooo...I'm not THAT familiar with their fabric. I thought all their furniture was slipcovered- not upholstered. You buy the basic armchair and chose the slipcover you like. I *think*. They have a pretty black and white floral print too. I love the check, too.

Oh my friend you are so in luck!!

We have that SAME line from Ikea in Fabric on our loveseat/sleeper.

I LOVE it. It doesn't feel cheap. Is washable, and yes, gets out pen when your 3 year old decides to write on it!!!

LOVE IT! Go for it. You won't be disappointed!

Email me at lovingoursimplelife@gmail.com if you have any other questions.

I have never even been to an Ikea so I'm no help at all but I too, LOVE THAT CHAIR!!! I hope you can get it and show it to us in your home.

You could always slip cover the chair if you didn't end up liking the fabric. I'm guessing the price is good since it's from IKEA. I'm not a big fan of their modern furniture but I have bought accessories there. You can't beat the prices.

That is a beautiful chair..like everyone else, not familiar with the quality of IKEA. Sometimes it is worth to buy a peice that is more expensive...and keep for reupholstery and sometimes it's better to buy a peice that you can love, use, and abuse...then throw away.

I was going to get two of these chairs for my bedroom, but when we went to IKEA and sat in them to try them out, they just weren't "cushy" enough for me. I admit I'm a freak about furniture being comfortable, so maybe it wouldn't bother anyone else. I was so disappointed, though! -Julia

I have two of the Ektorp sofas in the same room. It's our living room, which doesn't get daily use. This line isn't super cushy, but it's still great if you're on a budget.

A while back, Joni at Cote de Texas mentioned this line. She said it was a great choice for the budget conscious (or loose four year old with a crayon conscious like me)and she listed it as one of her favorite design choices. In the same post, she listed the dhurrie covered bench from Pottery Barn that I heart. Sigh.

I am loving that chair!
I am picturing it in Claire's room with a black and white polka dotted pillow with hot pink monogram.
Let me know if you get it and how it holds up.
I may be stealing your find.
(or the idea any way)
