Need Some Ideas

Ok all of you creative ladies out there. I need to pick your brains.

It's a sofa wall problem....not just one wall but two.

Here's the dilemma:

In this new family room the sofa has to fit into a corner and we just got a sectional (so we can all sit together) and now I have 2 blank walls staring me right in the face.

As you can see the stairs are to the right & there is a lovely thermostat on the wall. Now I love The Nester's idea for hiding that, however I don't know what to do with the rest of the space. (Ok - after browsing thru every single one of her posts to find this reference.....I totally need to visit every fabric store & yard sale for the next 5 years to catch up with her lovely style.)

But I digress....

A rug is on the agenda (as soon as I can get DH to agree - which he will eventually) and I'd like to get another table for that empty side of the sofa but for right now - it's the wall that's the problem.

Please help me figure out what to do with those two walls that will co-ordinate with each other and keep in mind.....I want to be frugal.

I'm officially stumped and desperately need your help.
Nester....you up for a little roadtrip to the Upstate of SC??

paint an old door and put it sideways on the wall--did you ever see my post on that? then, you could do coordinating windows on the other wall!

Big impact and Cheep!

Hey! I would put a big framed picture on the bigger wall (the one without the thermostat) and with the other one I would put a grouping of something. Like metal pieces and a wall floral arrangement or something. Just not another framed picture. I love the sectional!!!

I take vacation photos (or someplace we love), usually turn them black & white ~ sienna tone might look better with your colors, blow them up to 8 x 10, frame them and hang together.
Not very expensive at all.

I've got a post showing them on my blog somewhere too...I'll see if I can find it and reference you to it later.

Good job, ladies....I'm starting to get visions.

Keep 'em coming.

I'll sit this one out and glean from all of you. I don't have the decorator gene. Duchess used to come over and help me decorate, until we moved apart. :(

I am with Jennifer...I love using photos that I have taken of my kids or of a vacation and blowing them up. I like to use different sized frames. I usually do black and white, but she is right about the sienna. Would be gorgeous.
I saw something on a blog recently I loved...I will send you the link via email. Happy Deciding!
BTW...Love the sectional...fabulous!

Hmm...tricky. I have a weird wall in my living room I don't know what to do with either. You've got a lot of good ideas so far...can't wait to see what you come up with!

Oh! I used Rub and Buff to antique that Dollar Store chicken on my blog... it comes in a tiny tube and you can get it at craft stores. :o)

I would add a large mirror to one wall and a grouping of pictures to the other. :-)

I love Nester's idea of a door turned sideways, or a shutter even. then you could add some architectural piece across the top. On the other side, a grouping would be great, and just incorporate that little thermostat into it.....maybe even camoflage it a little! The other option if you don't want to do a door or shutter is a very large round clock.......or a wrought iron gate of some kind. I would also pull the sectional out away from the wall just a little bit if you can. Hope this helps.
